The 2017 NFL Playoffs are off to an exciting start and the Atlanta Falcons, making their first appearance since 2013, are ready to hit the field. They will be playing the Seattle Seahawks for the second time this season. The Seahawks barely won when they hosted the game in the regular season, but we don’t see them eking out a victory this time. The Seahawks have been inconsistent this season, while the Falcons offense has been on fire. Matt Ryan is certainly making up for his less than stellar past seasons. Our score prediction for this game is 30-23 with the Falcons continuing on in this NFL postseason.
Seahawks vs. Falcons Score Prediction: Seahawks 23, Falcons 30
Latest NFL news brings the Seattle Seahawks to face off against the Atlanta Falcons this Saturday as the 2017 NFL Playoffs continue. Seattle seeks the rare win as a playoff road underdog. The divisional playoff game will be Atlanta’s first postseason appearance since 2013, but the Falcons have the edge over the more experienced opponent.
After three years of failing to register a winning record, Atlanta won the NFC South with a historically potent offense and a leading MVP candidate. The Seahawks come into this game as four point underdogs to the NFC South champions. This is despite already beating the Falcons during the regular season. The 26-24 victory in Week 6 ended up being a key reason the Seahawks were able to secure the No. 3 seed in the NFC.
The Seahawks have been pretty inconsistent on both sides of the ball, however last weekend something seemed to click and they defeated the Lions 26-6 by taking control on defense. That defense is going to receive a huge test in the form of Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, Pro Bowl receiver Julio Jones and the best offense in the NFL. Atlanta averaged 33.8 points per game on offense this season, blowing away the average of the second-place New Orleans Saints by 4.5 points per game.
The Seahawks are ninth in the league on defense, having allowed opponents to post an 85.0 passer rating. In the previous four years, they never ranked worse than fifth. Now that Russell Wilson is healthy, he should play well enough to at least keep Seattle competitive in a shootout. He just might not have the necessary weapons to keep pace with Atlanta’s high-powered offense. The loss of wide receiver Tyler Lockett and one of the NFL’s worst offensive lines could be too much to overcome.
Just as this isn’t the same defense that led the Seahawks to two Super Bowl appearances, this isn’t the same Matt Ryan that has struggled in past postseasons. If he plays the way he has all year long, the Falcons will be headed to the NFC Championship Game. Many football prediction sites have gone back and forth on who will win this one. Our NFL Score prediction is 30-23 in favor of Atlanta.
