Two of the NFL’s most disappointing teams this season, and division rivals Ravens vs. Steelers, try to break losing streaks in their first meeting of the season. The biggest storyline heading into the game is the status of Ben Roethlisberger, who may be able to give it a go and give the Steelers a much-needed offensive boost.
Prediction: Baltimore 24, Pittsburgh 21
The Steelers and Ravens have nearly identical records, so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that our Steelers vs. Ravens prediction has the Ravens winning by a narrow margin. The Ravens are losers of four-straight, but they get a Steeler team that have lost two in-a-row themselves and who will likely be starting a limited and ailing Ben Roethlisberger, or a back-up.
It is tempting to predict the Steelers to start rolling again because of the possible return of Roethlisberger (he is still officially listed as “questionable”), but inserting an injured quarterback into the lineup isn’t an overnight solution and in-division road games are rarely easy to win in the NFL. Case in point, the Steelers haven’t won in Baltimore since 2012.
Roethlisberger starting isn’t a guarantee though. The status of Roethlisberger will be the biggest story of the Steelers Ravens game going in and with his status and injury level unknown we have to tip our Steelers vs. Ravens prediction in the direction of the Ravens, especially considering there is the possibility the Steelers don’t even end up starting their usual signal caller.
We also factored in that the Ravens Steelers game is an almost always a close game in recent history, with a three-point margin of victory usually being the spread. In fact, 10 of the last 16 meetings between the Ravens and Steelers have been won by exactly three points.
So our Steelers Ravens prediction is that we think the Ravens will win in the Ravens Steelers game, but we don’t think by much.
