College football preview: WVU vs Oklahoma matches up two of the best in the Big 12 with major College Football Playoff implications on the line. Oklahoma has bounced back from two early-season losses and West Virginia has lost just one game all season in a match up we think could be the Big 12 game of the year.
WVU vs. Oklahoma Prediction: Oklahoma 38, West Virginia 27
The Big 12 has been fairly quiet in the national conversation and the College Football Playoff race this year, but that is all going to change this Saturday when West Virginia vs. Oklahoma takes centerstage Saturday night. The Mountaineers and Sooners are probably the only teams left in the Big 12 who have a shot at the College Football Playoff this year, so all eyes will be on Morgantown Saturday night for WVU vs. Oklahoma.
West Virginia vs. Oklahoma is one of the most-interesting marquee match ups in the Big 12 this season because both programs have powerful historical backgrounds. The Mountaineers are fourteenth in overall victories among NCAA FBS programs and the Sooners have long been one of college football’s most-legendary programs, having won seven national championships and 45 conference championships in their history. The Sooners have dominated the Big 12 since the conference was created in 1994 (winning nine conference championships) and the Mountaineers are trying to grab a little bit of power away from them this season in just their fifth year in the conference.
Our college football prediction of West Virginia vs. Oklahoma anticipates the Sooners continuing their hot streak and grabbing a tough win in Morgantown 38-27. We see the game going much in the way West Virginia’s loss to Oklahoma State went where the Mountaineers ran into a talented conference foe on a roll and struggled to contain their high-octane offense.
